So the performance went well, could have gone better.. especially when the external was watching but anyway...
the costume and set came together well and I was pleased with how the piece was structured. At times I did feel slightly daft.. but all in good spirit as that was the nature of the performance.
overall, slightly dissapoining outcome I would have prefered something a bit of a higher standad as we had so much time and budget, but this is a learning process and for a devised piece as a whole we did well.

This is a collection of ideas and research for the project Einsteins dreams, i feel its a documented back up of our progression thorough the rehearsal process. Recording what has gone on in sessions, how I feel and what's been learnt.

..... todays task (briefed)
The mission statement is a modern theme, documenting the ideas of our 12 hour photography. We looked at the ideas of Tehching Hsieh (1950 Taiwan) http://www.skny.com/artists/tehching-hsieh/ and his mission statement, to be used as a set of guidelines and to overall make it more official. So far we have throughly stuck to our guidelines, noting down how we have felt throughout the day, I felt that this morning i was a lot more relaxed and taking the photo's took my mind off other things that usually clog me up! However during the course of the day the task was more of a chore than a performance and my motivation dipped at many points.

Statement
We, Fiona Millington and Jim Hendley plan to do a 12-
hour durational exploration, of mathematics and time in
everyday life.
The performance will begin at 9.00am until 9.00pm on the
12th May 2011.
The above will be documented through photography every 10
minutes and exhibited in chronological order.
We give ourselves up to the experiment, we accept the
frustration, and we embrace it and commit to it fully.
For the 12 hours mathematics will fill our lives.
"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not
everything that can be counted counts."

Dear Albert
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN7K03a8_ik&feature=related - lovely site specific link :) inspiration for our piece!!
I've just realised I haven't even told you the title of the piece yet... its Dear Albert. Really happy with this because it links well with the theme (obviously) and the site specific performance tells a story of moments in his life.
Today me and Jim are in rehearsals, he has nipped out for a cigarette so I'm making use of my time and wont forget our ideas. The plan for tomorrow is to perform our Durational art piece, documenting everything maths related, numbers, sums, time - including the speed of light. This will be achieved within Twelve hours and the photos will be taken on a Ten minute continuous cycle. We will write a proper manifesto, and that will get posted but this is a small briefing of what were up to today.

getting the show on the road...
Ok so I know I haven't blogged in ages partially because there has been no need to mark progress... as no progress has been made since initial ideas.. and other than that, we have been obstructed by Easter holidays ect.
But anyway, were back on the straight and narrow and Myself, Jim and Ian have started working hard with what we want to achieve. Our space (the kitchen by the dressing rooms) will be us performing our 'Einstein'. Both me and Jim will be one Einstein, who both explore time, space and speed. Our ideas are to have a very physical piece, with this we will explore the ideas of Exhaustion, through simple but repeated movements we will push our bodies to the maximum. With this in mind, we have started to look for an initial starting point and a purpose.
''We are Einsteins mind, We are showing a moment in time... in Einstein's mind''
I Imagine Einsteins brain to be full of electronic impulses moving at a fast pace, connecting to each other.. like a live circuit board. Me and Jim will try and show this, with what i said in the latter Exhaustion.
“Dance to the point of exhaustion. Dance until you are so out of breath that your organism is forced to obtain oxygen some other way. In the end, this will cause you to lose your identity and your relationship with space and time''
Paul Coelho (via worldfullofwonderfulthings)
Should be exciting to work on this, Ian is going to help choreography and stand out as our 'Third eye' so fingers crossed it will work?!
loads to talk about in terms of set, but now its teatime.. X
